New Website for Cave Rescue
UIS Cave Rescue Commission launch its new internet site
24-JAN-2006 -- Puerto Rico
With the implementation of a new website, the UIS (Union
International de Spéléologie) Cave Rescue Commission enters a whole new
era in informatics. The site,
www.speleosecours.org was designed to bring updated information on
cave rescue teams of the world, cave rescue articles and general
information about caving activities around the world.
The UIS Cave Rescue Commission was formed under the auspices of a
great Belgian caver, André Slagmolen. For about 40 years Slagmolen and
his wife Christiane (RIP) worked hand to hand with cavers around the
world to implement safety measures and practices in order to avoid
accidents during caving explorations. As a result of their effort and
commitment a lot of cave rescue organizations in the world follow
Slagmolen's ideas and support for a saver caving.
Under a new direction, in the hands of Christian Dodelin, from the
French Federation of Speleology, the Commission gets new support and
refreshed its board to handle in a very assertive way every aspect of
cave rescue. This was done during the 14th. International Congress of
Speleology held in Calamos, Greece.
With new ideas, new webpage and a strong commitment toward the
empowerment of advanced rescue techniques, equipment and personnel, this
Commission expects that this working tool helps all rescue teams around
the world to exchange ideas, so every team will strengthen their
positions toward safety and the saving of lives.
